Webinars and events; they’re a proven form of transforming your list and leads into paying customers and clients.
The process of hosting valuable webinars and events jam packed with important information and content, in order to warm people up to you making them easier to convert, is well practiced.
And yet, many experts, speakers and trainers fall at this hurdle. They recognise the importance of webinars and events, but miss something very critical out.
And what’s the result of this?
Today I want to share with you the very critical thing you must do BEFORE you start creating any webinar or event. This is essential to ensuring your webinar or event is successful and not a complete waste of your time, energy and resource!
Yeah, that’s it. That’s all you need to do. It sounds simple and very basic, but you’d be surprised how often this is missed out or majorly neglected.
What can happen is an expert or speaker comes up with a new idea that they think would be amazing for their next webinar or event – and then they go and create it.
But the reality is, no matter how well they know their audience and the niche in which they operate, that knowledge is no replacement from actually being the audience.
And remember, the success or failure of your webinar or event rests on your audience. If they love it, you’ll make lots of money. If they don’t, you will lose money. It’s that simple.
So where do you start? How do you discover what your audience wants?
Firstly, get to know your audience. Even if you think you know them, take more time to really get to know them. This is critical. So critical that it’s 20% of my mentorship program. Don’t just ASSUME you know what your audience wants. Assuming makes an ASS out of U and ME!
But you can only go so far with this.
Next you have to start speaking with your audience and asking them precisely what they want. What they want to learn, what they want help with, etc.
This is also a great opportunity to learn what format they would prefer – webinars or events!
Now the goal here is to be as sure as possible what exactly your audience wants. But ultimately you’ll never be 100% sure until you try. So get as close to that as possible.
Once you think you know what your audience wants, the next step is to…
What do I mean by this?
Firstly, test running an event or webinar that you strongly believe your audience wants (after doing your research, of course!)
Secondly, measure your results vs previous events and webinars. What gets a higher attendance rate?
Thirdly, take your learnings and data to optimise your event and webinar to create one that people will go to despite (most) things cropping up in their life.
This is not an easy thing to do – but the results make the process well worth doing. BUT, it doesn’t end there. People change. Their preferences change. Constantly test -> measure -> optimise to ensure you only run events and webinars that people actually want!
